Tata Motors is currently the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in India. It controls more than 36 percent of the total electric vehicle market in India and does not want to lose its position. As a result of this, the company is working on the development of more electric cars, and this year we will officially see them. Here is the list of four upcoming electric cars from Tata Motors.
One of the most anticipated upcoming electric cars from Tata in India is the Sierra.ev. The EV version of the already successful Sierra midsize SUV will be launched on May 22. Recently, a series of new Sierra.ev spy photos were shared online, which have revealed some important details of this upcoming EV.
On the outside, the Sierra EV will be very similar to the ICE version. However, it will receive some EV-specific changes. These will include a fully enclosed front grille, connected LED light bar, stylish LED headlights, vertically stacked fog lights and optimized aerodynamic design elements. Profile-wise, it will remain almost identical to the standard Sierra. It will continue to offer recessed door handles, gloss black cladding and oversized alloy wheels.
At the rear, it will continue to have connected LED taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler. Moving on to the interior, the Sierra.ev is expected to feature a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The higher variants will also offer the triple-screen setup seen on the top-spec ICE Sierra.
Other features could include a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, electric parking brake, and multiple driving modes. As for the powertrain, Tata Motors is expected to offer the Sierra.ev with the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options as the Harrier EV.
It is also expected to have rear-wheel drive and QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) configurations. Sierra.ev will slot between Nexon.ev and Harrier.ev in the lineup, and is expected to be priced between Rs 20-25 lakh.
The next big launch on the same date of May 22 will be Tata Safari.ev. This SUV will become the company’s first 7-seater electric model in India. Once launched, Safari.EV will rival the Mahindra XEV 9S, which has already become very popular.
In terms of design, the Safari.ev will feature the same body style as the standard ICE Safari. However, the company will provide a number of EV-specific styling elements, including a closed grille, redesigned bumpers, EV badging, and aero-efficient alloy wheels.
Inside, the Safari.ev is expected to retain the design of the standard model. But like the Harrier.ev, which is its smaller brother, Tata could offer a more premium color combination and higher quality finishes. In terms of features, the Safari.EV is expected to get OTA updates, a 540-degree surround camera, advanced Level 2 ADAS, automatic parking assist, summon mode, a UPI-based in-car payment system, and low-speed cruise control for off-road use.
The Safari.ev will be powered by the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs as the Harrier.ev. Tata is also expected to offer a larger 80 kWh battery pack. The SUV is expected to have rear-wheel drive and AWD configurations, like the Harrier.ev. Additionally, it is also expected to offer terrain modes, multi-link rear suspension, and frequency-dependent dampers. The price of Safari.ev is expected to range between Rs 22.5 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.
Another very important upcoming electric car from Tata Motors is the revamped Tiago.ev. Currently, the Tiago.ev is one of the most affordable electric cars in India and with this new update, it could become much more popular. The new Tiago.ev facelift will reportedly have a larger battery, improved performance, and more premium features.
The biggest change in the new model will be the battery options. Tata Motors is expected to discontinue the smaller 19 kWh battery pack and make the 24 kWh battery standard. Apart from this, the company will also introduce a new larger 30 kWh battery pack, which could offer a range of around 366 km on a single charge.
The new battery pack is believed to use more energy-dense prismatic cells sourced from Gotion. Apart from the battery upgrade, the Tiago.ev facelift is also expected to receive a new 6-in-1 i-drive motor, which is also seen on Punch.ev. This configuration could produce between 80 and 88 HP of power and 140 Nm of torque. Tata Motors is also expected to offer faster DC charging speeds of over 50 kW to reduce charging times.
In terms of design, the facelifted Tiago.ev will get a revised front fascia, slimmer headlights, redesigned bumpers and new alloy wheels. The interior will also be updated with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, touch-sensitive air conditioning controls and a new two-spoke steering wheel.
Other expected features include a sunroof, wireless charging, rear air vents, 360-degree camera, and six airbags. The updated Tiago.ev is expected to make its debut later this month, and is expected to get a price hike from the current price of Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 11.14 lakh.
Last on the list is the Tata Avinya X, which will become the most expensive and premium electric vehicle offered by Tata Motors. The concept of this electric vehicle was already presented at the Bharat Mobility Auto Show 2025. The Avinya models will be sold under Tata’s new luxury electric vehicle sub-brand called Avinya.
The design of the Avinya X will be unlike any other Tata model currently on sale. The concept featured sleek styling, a coupe-like SUV silhouette, T-shaped LED headlights and taillights, and a very futuristic overall appearance.
Inside, the Avinya X will feature a minimalist and premium cabin design inspired by luxury SUVs such as the Range Rover. Expected features of the Avinya
Unlike the Harrier EV and Safari.EV, the Avinya X will be based on Tata’s new EMA platform. According to Tata Motors, this platform will support ultra-fast charging and offer up to 500 km of range with less than 30 minutes of charging time. The price of the Avinya
