As part of the celebration of the 16th National Voter’s Day, several awareness programs were held in the district on Friday.

National Voters Day is celebrated every January 25, the founding day of the Election Commission of India. As part of Friday’s celebrations, several awareness programs were held at Salem Government Arts College in Kumarasamipatti.

District Collector R. Brindha Devi presided over the celebrations and students took the Voters’ Day awareness pledge. The Collector saw the logo drawn by the students.

Speaking at the event, the collector said that following the instructions of the Election Commission of India, every year on the basis of the election commission, voters’ day is celebrated across the country. An awareness rally began at Government Arts College on Friday. The objective of these celebrations is to encourage the inclusion of names of young voters in the voter lists and to provide facilities for this.

At a function held at the Collector’s Office, the Collector and the officials took up the commitment of the voters’ day.

Corporation commissioner M. Elangovan, district revenue officer R. Ravikumar and officials participated.
