Received an 'Important Transaction' email? Income Tax Department says to ignore it for now, work to fix it is going on

The Income Tax Department on Saturday asked taxpayers to ignore emails, if any, alerting them about ‘important transactions’ as part of the advance tax e-campaign.In a post on Twitter, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that some taxpayers have received emails containing incorrect details about ‘significant transactions’ made by them under the ongoing advance tax e-drive for assessment year 2026-27 (FY 2025-26).“We are actively working to resolve this matter in coordination with our service provider. In the meantime, taxpayers are requested to ignore the earlier email communication related to advance tax e-campaign for assessment year 2026-27 (FY 2025-26),” the CBDT said. The last date for payment of the fourth installment of advance tax for the financial year 2025-26 is March 15.The Board clarified that the communication is meant as a convenient reminder to help taxpayers review the relevant financial information available on the compliance portal and ensure appropriate advance tax compliance where necessary. It advised taxpayers to verify their transaction details through the e-Campaign tab on the compliance portal accessible through the e-filing portal.
