Since March 31, 2026 (Tuesday) is the last day to pay property tax (for the current financial year) to avoid additional penalties and interest on delayed payment, the suvidha kendras of the municipal corporation (MC) will remain open despite the government holiday (Mahavir Jayanti) on Tuesday.

MC Commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta has appealed to residents to submit the pending tax on time to avoid penalty and interest.
Residents will have to pay a 20 percent penalty and 18 percent annual interest on tax payments after March 31, 2026.
Officials of the civic body informed that residents can avail 10 per cent rebate on property tax payment during the current financial year, if the payment is made before September 30 of the said financial year. No penalty is imposed for paying taxes from October 1 to December 31, while the department imposes a 10 percent penalty for paying taxes from January 1 to March 31.
The penalty is increased to 20 per cent and an annual interest of 18 per cent is also imposed, if residents fail to pay property tax for the current financial year by March 31 of that financial year.
Appealing to the residents to submit their dues on time to avoid penalties, the MC commissioner stated that the amount collected from the residents is used to provide basic amenities to the residents and to undertake development works in the city.
To facilitate residents in submitting dues, suvidha kendras at all four zonal offices of the civic body will remain open during routine working hours despite Tuesday being a government holiday.
Civic body officials stated that to avoid long queues at MC zonal suvidha kendras, residents can also pay property tax online by visiting the official website of the civic body (mcludhiana.gov.in).
