Ambedkar Jayanti 2026: Government declares April 14, 2026 as a holiday
The Government declared on Tuesday April 14, 2026as public holiday to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Dr BR Ambedkar.
All central government offices including industrial establishments across India, stay closed on this day.
The holiday has been officially announced through a Office Memo issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training).

Ambedkar Jayanti 2026 is the 135th birthday by Dr BR Ambedkar. People celebrate it every year to remember and honor Dr BR Ambedkar, who helped draft the Constitution of India and worked for equality and social justice. This day is also called bhim Jayanti either Equality Day.
