Three men arrested after trying to smuggle drugs into penal farm, court records show | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Three men have been arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs into the penal farm, according to court records.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said detectives were conducting a surveillance operation Monday when they saw Carlos Wilkins and Ladarius Munn get out of a car on Sycamore View and walk toward the jail.

One man made a hole in the prison fence and passed through, while the other handed him bags of contraband.

That’s when detectives approached the suspects and arrested them.

Officers recovered 40 bags of suboxone, marijuana, a cell phone, cigarettes and other items.

The driver was later identified as Jamie Rusan; He was also arrested.

The three men have been charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, drug possession and conspiracy.
