Nearly seven weeks after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) concluded the Class 10 second board examination of 2026, thousands of students are still waiting for their results, with anxiety steadily rising on social media.The last exam was held on May 21, 2026. As of July 9, 2026, 49 days have passed since the exams ended, but CBSE has not announced the date and time for declaration of results. While the board has been silent on an official timeline, multiple reports indicate that the results are likely to be released this week, although no formal confirmation has been issued.The prolonged wait has led students and parents to flood X (formerly Twitter), questioning the delay and expressing concern over the pending Class 11 admissions.
More than 6.68 lakh students are awaiting results
The second board exam, held between May 15 and May 21, was introduced under CBSE’s new two-board examination system, giving eligible students another opportunity to improve their scores within the same academic session.According to CBSE data, 6,68,854 candidates registered for the exam. This included 5,25,655 improvement candidates, 85,285 compartment candidates and 57,914 students who were classified in both categories.Once declared, the board will prepare the final result using the best-of-two policy, under which the highest score obtained by a student in the first or second board examination will be considered for the final mark sheet.
Parents and students question the delay
With Class 11 admissions already underway in many schools, several parents say the delay has created uncertainty regarding course allocation and fee payments.X user Rabia Hasan (@Rabiahasan368) wrote that her son had scored 81.4 per cent in the first board exam and was waiting for the second board result to secure admission to the Science stream.“Dear CBSE, My son scored 81.4% in the first term board exam of class 10 and wants Science section. First meeting results set high benchmark
Earlier this year, CBSE declared the results of the first board exam of Class 10 with an overall pass percentage of 93.70 per cent. Of the 24,71,777 students who appeared, 23,16,008 qualified.Among the regions, Trivandrum and Vijayawada recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.79 per cent each, followed by Chennai at 99.58 per cent and Bengaluru at 98.91 per cent.
