Amin said he knows families may feel the cost of living is higher during the school holidays, as there are no free school meals and activities, so he hopes his proposal will get them a little more support.
Nicky Kansara, president of Erdington Academy’s Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) and school governor, said: “In my roles at Erdington Academy, I have seen children facing many different struggles.
“The cost of living is affecting a lot of people, not just premium students.
“That’s why this relationship with Razwan is so powerful. Razwan has the ability to inspire kids as an Erdington alumnus – he shows them they can go through school and make it in the real world.”
Kansara’s son Isa, a student at Erdington, has already taken advantage of the offer and said many students will do the same.
“When I get my hair cut, I feel like a new man and it makes me feel more confident in general,” he said.
He added, “Razwan went to Erdington Academy and is now a successful businessman, so he made me realize that I can be successful too. It’s empowering.”
