Apple's iOS 26.2 update is coming soon as the company releases the second version candidate

Apple has released the second release candidate (RC) of iOS 26.2 to developers and public beta testers, hinting at the soon release of the software update. For those who don’t know, RC represents the final version of an update before it is released to the general public. The new construction is numbered 23C54 and replaces the previous RC 23C52. As reported by MacRumours, iOS 26.2 will come with a Liquid Glass slider on the lock screen to adjust the transparency of the clock. The software update will also bring AirPods Live Translation to the European Union. Additionally, the Reminder app is expected to support alarms to let you know when tasks are due. Other features coming to iPhones with iOS 26.2 will include

Measurement application

The most notable change comes in the Measure app, which now features a redesigned level tool with a Liquid Glass aesthetic, replacing the previous white circular indicators with more fluid, translucent bubbles. This continues Apple’s gradual rollout of its Liquid Glass design language first unveiled at WWDC.

menu animations

System-wide menu animations have also received attention, with pop-up menus now showing faster, more dynamic transitions that more closely resemble Apple’s original WWDC demos.

gaming application

Beyond the visual updates, the Games app gets practical improvements including library sorting by size along with existing name and recent options. Real-time score updates during gameplay and improved controller navigation round out the improvements to the gaming experience.

carplay

CarPlay users will find a new option to disable pinned conversations in the Messages app, offering greater customization of in-vehicle communication preferences.

Enhanced security alerts

Apple has also expanded information on enhanced security alerts, clarifying how the feature offers emergency notifications for events such as earthquakes and floods using available connectivity. The system determines user regions through device location without storing this information permanently.
