Spring is upon us, but this is my favorite time to be in Charleston. It’s hard not to feel inspired when you’re walking outside and everything is blooming. Jasmine, wisteria, azalea are spread on every road. We’re spending a lot of time outside after school, on our bikes, in the park until late. The entire season inspires you to slow down and absorb it all.
This month’s forecast is perfect: Easter at home with the family, spring break in the Bahamas, a celebration I’ve been looking forward to for months, and two collaborations in the works. Everything is on my radar for April.
what are we doing
- Easter weekend. We have already searched for a handful of eggs, but the big day we will spend having breakfast at home with our family. I’m excited for the girls to open this and this.
- My easter table. I’m a little obsessed with the Summerhill & Bishop x John Derian tablecloth which I purchased. I covered it in my Wolf Bunnies and new La Tuile Loop plates – a tablescape that will make you want to stay over coffee long after the meal. I will wear this dress.
- Spring Break Plans. Next week we are going to the Bahamas with friends. We’ll be staying at the new Potlatch Club designed by Amanda Lindroth. Her aesthetic is everything I gravitate towards – fresh, island-chic, effortlessly elegant.
- JB x Margaux restock is coming. Thank you all for the incredible support on our JB x Margaux collection! It was a huge success, with many styles selling out within the first few days. The Margaux team was able to reorder, so be prepared for restocks.
- Our second collaboration of the year. We have another launch coming up at the end of April – our fourth collection with Jennifer Behar. It takes all of our best sellers and gives them new life for spring. Can’t wait to share more.
- A celebration with a dreamy brand. I’m going to an event in the middle of the month with a brand I’ve admired for years. I get to be groomed by them, which feels like a pinch to me. more to come.
- This month’s book. I’ve set a goal of one book per month this year. last month i read StrangerAnd this month we’re lightening the mood with my friend Chasity’s debut novel, pink sand summer. I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to learn more about it during spring break.
what am i wearing
- Again the Ulla Johnson denim jacket. I’m wearing this denim jacket all the time. It’s a great staple, and I love the peplum hem – an unexpected detail that elevates the whole piece.
- A Zimmerman rainbow skirt that I keep reaching for again and again. This rainbow skirt has been in heavy rotation. I styled it with a favorite cream tee and denim jacket on top, paired with my Margaux mules. Easy, polished, done.
- R13 paisley jeans, again. I mentioned the R13 Paisley Jeans in my rant last week, but they’re too good to mention again. (There are more sizes here.)
- J.Crew linen pants that look expensive. I recently got these linen pants in the “Sandy Grass” color and they are: 1) very attractive, and 2) look much more expensive than their sub $90 price tag suggests. I wore these during a trip here to NYC.
- What I’m packing for spring break: This fringe crochet top, this kaftan, this pareo with matching bikini, this embroidered bucket hat and denim shorts I really like.
what am i buying
- “Corsica” capsule of Hill House. I love the paisley print in red and blue – it has a very Mediterranean summer feel. I picked this swimsuit and this mini dress was a close second.
- Merlet in soft pink and chartreuse. They have such a beautiful collection right now. I love this dress, which I previously had in different colors with a skirt and top.
- A long Tori birch shell necklace. This caught my attention immediately.
- Julieta’s spring collection. He is back with a great lineup. My favorites: these nautilus earrings, this onyx shell necklace, and this shell and pendant necklace. Perfect to wear with something like this Zimmerman dress.
- Ares, always. This is the Hermès of swimwear. I have a handful of classic one-pieces and bikinis that I wear year after year, but this season they’ve given me a cute coverup set you can easily wear out to dinner: a top and pants.
- Chiffon red pants by Alix of Bohemians. These are amazing.
- The fringe jacket of a moment. I’m very interested in this Hayley Menzies. The print is beautiful, and there are even matching jeans.
what am i looking at
- Prada Large Crochet Raffia Tote. I’m attracted to it – its scale is just right, making a statement without trying too hard.
- Searching for a new artist. I save a lot of art all the time. A recent Instagram search – this video – led me to Yeon Kyung Park. I like his work very much.
- New storm on Moda. These are beautiful – I want one of each color.
- A Fendi scarf. This gardening scarf is on my mind.
- Cordera Beaded Bag. I love them. The two new styles are available for pre-order here and here.
- Book by Martin Brudnizki. If you are as inspired by his interests as I am, his book is a constant source of inspiration.
- Philippa for spring 1970. I wore their velvet embellished jacket on New Year’s Eve, and their prices are really acceptable. Some new pieces I have my eye on: this dress, this jacket, and this kaftan.
- A Janessa Lyon raffia bag. It has great channel sensitivity.
- A new Jio Ruggable. I love their new collection – this piece is my favorite.
