Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to approach the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over an incident involving LSG player Avesh Khan during their IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Cricbuzz reported.The issue has to do with the last ball of the game on April 5, when LSG captain Rishabh Pant hit a boundary against Jaydev Unadkat. As the ball headed towards the boundary, Avesh, who was near the dugout, hit it on the ground with a bat. There were claims that the ball had not crossed the rope at the time, with some arguing that SRH should be awarded penalty runs under laws relating to dead ball (Rule 20.1) and unfair play (Rule 41).However, there was no defender near the ball and it was not seen as an attempt to stop a boundary. As a result, unfair gambling laws were not applied. An umpire familiar with the situation, quoted by Cricbuzz, said there was no reason to change the boundary decision.
Lucknow only needed one run at that point as the scores were level, and they completed the chase with a ball to spare and five wickets in hand.The Cricbuzz report says that SRH is not happy with the incident and may formally write to the BCCI. The franchise is also not happy with some of the decisions made in its previous games.In their first match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), SRH were troubled by the dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen, who was caught near the boundary by Phil Salt off Romario Shepherd.They are also not happy with the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma in their second match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Varun Chakaravarthy took a diving catch off Blessing Muzarabani in the ninth over, but there seemed to be no conclusive evidence that the catch was taken cleanly.While none of these results or decisions will change, the Cricbuzz report says that SRH is expected to take up the matter with the BCCI.
