Bandhan Bank launched on Monday cyber police To promote safe digital behavior and help protect citizens from the growing threat of online fraud, Hindustan Times is running a nationwide cyber awareness campaign under its CSR programme. Presented by HT and implemented by Edent Welfare Social Organisation, the initiative aims to educate people about cyber risks through public outreach, awareness films and practical guidance.
Launched at a time when cyber crime is on the rise across India, the campaign encourages a simple yet powerful message: “Stop. Verify. Report.” It urges citizens to think before sharing personal or financial information, verify suspicious requests and immediately report cyber fraud through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or the ‘1930’ cyber crime helpline.
Adding star power to the campaign, filmmaker Rohit Shetty has joined the initiative to amplify its message. Taking inspiration from their popular police universe, the campaign film highlights how crime has evolved from the streets to the smartphone, making every internet user responsible to remain vigilant in the digital world.
According to government data, losses from cyber fraud reported through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal have reached ₹22,495 crore in 2025, while financial fraud complaints crossed 24 lakh during the year. Also, rapid digital adoption in India has expanded the need for greater public awareness about online safety and responsible digital practices.
Talking about the initiative, Bandhan Bank spokesperson said that cyber fraud has become one of the most serious challenges in India’s digital ecosystem and the campaign seeks to encourage people to pause before acting, verify before trust and report fraud without delay.
Through Cyber Cop, Bandhan Bank aims to strengthen cyber awareness at the grassroots level and empower citizens with the knowledge to recognize common scam tactics, react quickly to suspicious activity and contribute to building a safe and secure digital India.
