India Post has released its much-awaited notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026, offering 28,740 vacancies across the country. The recruitment drive also covers positions for Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM). All applications have to be submitted online through the official portal: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.

Key dates to remember
–Registration start: January 31, 2026
–Last date to apply: February 14, 2026
–Deadline date for payment of fees: February 16, 2026 (until 5 p.m.)
–Application correction period: February 18 and 19, 2026
During the correction period, applicants can edit certain details in the submitted forms by paying the prescribed correction fee.
Eligibility and salary
Eligibility requires candidates to have passed Class 10 and be between 18 and 40 years of age, and selection is based solely on Class 10 qualifications. The pay scale ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470 per month for ABPM and GDS posts, while BPM posts offer a higher salary range of Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380 per month.
The first short list of candidates will be announced on February 28, with the name of the division, office, position, community, registration number, percentage of marks obtained and place of document verification.
