Today is sadly my last day in Paris. For now.
In a few hours I will be on a long flight back to America with my large luggage.
After 20 years of Fashion Bomb Daily, each event feels more important. When I was sitting in the Manish Malhotra show, looking around at the gorgeous settings, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Because of your support of my little blog, I’m able to get into rooms like this, and maybe show you something that inspires you, designers you haven’t discovered yet, or people you might want to get to know.
I think it was on our first anniversary that I finally showed myself on this site. Until then, I was a headless, previously anonymous 20-something living in New York. I remember that in addition to feeling refreshed to have people know who I was, someone commented on how low my dress was in the front or something. There will always be critics, but there will also be those who celebrate you at every step.
I’ve learned to take the good with the bad, and realize that part of my job here is to be an example to others who don’t always see themselves reflected in any industry they aspire to participate in.
I’m here to represent women, curvy women, women of color who love fashion, who weren’t born in the 1%, aren’t singers, actors, rappers, or reality stars… but still enjoy style. Whether people think they are stylish or not!
I thank you so much for joining me on this journey. From failed fashion week shows to the front row of haute couture, one blog post, Instagram post, Tik Tok post and YouTube video (!) at a time.
After 20 years, we will see how many more years go by 🙂
smooth!
