Everton manager David Moyes spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage (start at 15:00 GMT).
These are the key lines from his press conference:
-
Moyes confirmed that Vitaliy Mykolenko has returned to training and will be available to play on Saturday. Everyone else on the team is fine.
-
He took stock of Everton’s business in the transfer market: “We would have liked to have done more, but it has not been for lack of trying. Tyrique George is adapting well, he has had a few days of training and is an exciting young player.”
-
When asked where he wants to play with the 20-year-old in his team: “He can play on the left and on the right. He has also played as a center forward, which gives me options if I need him, but I see him mainly on the left or the right. He is quite comfortable on both sides.”
-
He says there are “no problems” with Dwight McNeil after his move to Crystal Palace fell through, adding: “He understands where it went wrong and how he broke down. It happens, players have to live with it. It’s not that we didn’t want it to happen. It was difficult to do much more than we did.”
-
On the decision not to re-loan Harrison Armstrong after calling him up from Preston: “Because of my close ties and connection with Preston, I wanted him to stay there because they have a great chance of making the play-offs. “Being a young player in those games is a great thing, but the injuries we had in January shook us up a bit.
-
Moyes played with four centre-backs in last weekend’s game, something Moyes says he has always had in mind given that Jarrard Branthwaite can play in the middle and at left-back. He says he “wouldn’t be ashamed” to try again.
