Although peak power demand hit an all-time high record, officials said low temperatures during the first 10 days of the month due to rain in some parts of the country kept consumption in check.Grid India data showed that peak power demand reached 256.1 GW on April 25 as power consumption broke all records due to rising mercury levels and higher use of ACs by commercial and domestic consumers. The average demand for the month was estimated at 229.2 GW. There were four days during the month when the demand crossed 250 GW.
