EUGENE, Oregon – As Valentine’s Day approaches, local florists in Eugene are preparing for the holiday season. The National Retail Federation predicts that Americans will spend a record $29 billion this year on Valentine’s Day.
Bridgette Solagbade, manager of The Flower Market, shared her insight on prices in the flower industry.
“Contact your local florist, because they won’t charge you all those fees,” Solagbade said. “Every time you walk by, I won’t name names, but any of those florists, all they are is a call center. So you call them, you give them $100, and then they call a local florist and give them $60, and you wonder why your arrangement isn’t that big.”
The flower market owner mentioned that his prices are not affected by the tariffs as prices naturally increase during the holidays.
