Gold prices hit a new high on Wednesday amid rising expectations of an interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve and strong global cues amid rising geopolitical tensions.Gold futures for February contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) jumped Rs 932, or 0.65 per cent, to hit a record high of Rs 1,43,173 per 10 grams.In international markets, Comex gold futures for February delivery rose by US$37.61, or 0.82 per cent, to near a record high of US$4,636.71 an ounce after touching an intraday peak of US$4,643.34 an ounce.The rise in bullion comes amid continued demand for safe-haven assets, as investors consider continuing geopolitical uncertainties as well as subdued monetary policy expectations in the US.Today gold price in major Indian cities is as follows:
