Banks across India will be closed for several days in June due to national, regional and religious holidays. Customers planning to visit branches of SBI, HDFC Bank and other lenders should check the holiday calendar in advance as banking operations at public and private sector branches will be suspended on the days mentioned in the RBI holiday calendar.

While some holidays are specific to certain states or regions, branches nationwide are closed on posted national holidays. Customers can continue to access digital banking services during the holidays, although in-person banking transactions at branches will not be available.

RBI Holiday Calendar 2026 for June

In the RBI holiday calendar, certain days are marked as non-working days for banks under the ‘Negotiable Instruments Act’ and others under the ‘Closing of Bank Accounts’. Here is the full list of holidays in June 2026:

  • June 15: Banks are closed in Aizawl to commemorate the founding of the Youth Mizo Association (YMA). Banks will also be closed in Bhubaneswar on this day due to the occasion of Raja Sankranti.
  • June 25: Banks will be closed in Vijayawada to observe Moharrum.
  • June 26: Banking operations in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu and Kanpur Kolkata will be closed. Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Srinagar, to observe Muharrum.
  • June 29: Banks will close in Shimla to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti.
  • June 30: Banks are closed in Aizawl to celebrate the regional holiday known as Remna Ni.

As per the guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), all scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe mandatory closure on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as on all Sundays of the month. It means that during these days customers will not be able to access services in the branch.

This month there are a total of four Sundays, so banks will be closed on June 7, 14, 21 and 28. In addition to Sundays, banks will be closed on June 13 (second Saturday) and June 27 (fourth Saturday).

Online banking remains operational during the holidays

During the holidays, online banking services remain available across the country to ensure uninterrupted access to banking services. Customers can use these services to make convenient financial transactions.

A person can use UPI or the respective bank’s app to make payments and receive money from others. These services operate 24 hours a day, regardless of whether banks are open or not. Although, sometimes it may be down due to scheduled maintenance during which the banks will notify you.

Additionally, fund transfer requests can be made using NEFT/RTGS transfer forms, demand draft request forms and checkbook forms.

Apart from those options, one can also get credit cards, debit cards, and ATM cards through card services. Services such as account maintenance forms, setting up permanent instructions, and requesting a locker are also available.
