
Producers, craft talents and locations from the UK and Ireland have left their mark on the Oscar nominations 2026.
However, no film by British or Irish directors has been nominated in the best film or director categories.
UK producers have fared better. Hamnet has eight nominations, produced outside the UK by Liza Marshall’s Hera Pictures and Pippa Harris and Sam Mendes’ Neal Street Productions, including best picture, direction by Chinese-American filmmaker Chloe Zhao and screenplay by Zhao and Northern Irish writer Maggie O’Farrell.
The film was shot in Wales and Herefordshire.
Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe’s Dublin and London-based Element Pictures has a respectable four nominations for Bugoniain best film, best leading actress (Emma Stone), best adapted screenplay (Will Tracy) and best original score, for British composer Jerskin Fendrix.

Nominated for international feature film Hind Rajab’s voice will mark the return to the Oscars for British producer Jim Wilson, after the 2023 Oscar winner The area of interest. Hind Rajab’s voice is the Tunisian nomination and received support from Film4.
European co-production sentimental value It earned nine nominations and, although it does not have a British producer, received financing from BBC Film, which pre-purchased the UK television rights.
In the acting categories, the Irish Jessie Buckley has been nominated for best actress for Hamnet, and British-Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku has been nominated for sinners in the supporting actress category. London-born Delroy Lindo has a supporting actor nomination for sinners.

In the craft categories, the visual effects field is particularly strong for technicians from the UK and Ireland. Irishman Richard Baneham has been nominated for Avatar: Fire and Ash; The British Robert Harrington and Keith Dawson for F1; the British team of David Vickery, Stephen Aplin and Neil Corbould to Jurassic World Rebirth; and the British Charlie Noble and David Zaretti with the Irishman Russell Bowen for The lost bus.
In addition, the British Mike Hill has been nominated for best makeup and hairstyling for frankenstein, and in the music category (original score) it is Bugonia‘s Fendrix, the German-British Max Richter for Hamnet and lead guitarist of the British band Radiohead Jonny Greenwood forOne battle after another.
In music (original song), Australian-born, UK-based Nick Cave has been nominated for dream train and Nicholas Pike has been nominated for Sweet dreams of joy. Production design nominees include Britain’s Alice Felton for Hamnetand in sound, F1Gareth John has been nominated.
Other nominations include British casting director Nina Gold for Hamnet; Ireland Retirement plandirected by John Kelly, for best animated short film; and the UK A friend of Dorothy’s, directed by Lee Knight, for best live action short film.
The 2026 Oscars will take place on March 15.
