HYBE INDIA gas announced that it has opened applications for a new girl group audition, with a talent search scheduled from March 31 to July 31.
The audition invites female talent from across India, born between 2005 and 2011, to showcase their individuality and creativity in a variety of acting categories. App categories include voice, rap, dance, acting, modeling and more. This is part of the company, behind pop icon BTS, preparing for the next phase of its talent discovery initiative.
According to the company, the decision to focus on a group of girls is based on a combination of online and in-person research conducted across the country in recent years. Drawing on insights from a nationwide quantitative study of teen and 20-something audiences, complemented by qualitative research in six key cities, both conducted in collaboration with Nielsen, HYBE INDIA found a clear aspiration among young Indian women for artists who reflect their voices and serve as inspiring role models. From this, HYBE INDIA identified an opportunity for a girl group to showcase ‘Harmony in Diversity’ while bringing authentic stories and voices of today’s Indian women to global audiences.
Damien Woochang Lee, CEO of HYBE INDIA, said the audition marks a significant first step in the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. “India has never lacked talent or ambition; what it has been lacking is a consistent path to the global stage. What we are building is that bridge: a system that allows us to nurture artists with intention and be seen, heard and understood across borders. This audition is where that process begins.”
The audition process will include online submissions and in-person rounds to be held in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Some cities will also host pop-up activations as part of the listening experience, with more details to be revealed in the coming days.
