India pacer Gurnoor Brar has been warned after violating level one of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first match of the ODI series against England in Birmingham.
Brar was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate or dangerous manner during an international match”.
Additionally, Brar has been awarded a demerit point as part of his disciplinary record, making it his first offense in a 24-month period.
The incident took place in England’s eighth innings, when Brar picked up the ball while fielding and threw it towards the batsman in an inappropriate and dangerous manner.
The pacer admitted the infringement and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.
