New Delhi: India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh is nearing clearance and to accommodate the matches, the proposed three T20Is against Afghanistan could be delayed. As per the proposed schedule circulated internally, India would take on Afghanistan starting September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It is clear that talks are underway to delay the start of that short series until September 17, which would leave enough space after the Sri Lanka Tests to accommodate a short tour of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wants to hold a six-match white-ball series in September. Earlier this month, BCB put its television and digital media rights up for sale. This happened a week after India resumed issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi citizens, almost two years after the suspension following political unrest in Bangladesh in 2024.“We are hopeful about the tour. We are yet to get the green signal from the BCCI, but they have not said that they will not come either. So we hope to get a positive response from the BCCI soon,” a senior BCB official told this website.Sources close to newly elected BCB president Tamim Iqbal said the former Bangladesh captain returned from the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, with some positive signs. The series was originally scheduled for last year but was postponed due to political tensions between the two countries.

After being appointed BCB director, Tamim told TimesofIndia. com that I was hopeful about the series.“There is a series scheduled against India later this year. I am very hopeful that India will come and play the series. This is a bilateral series that Bangladeshi people really enjoy watching. Bangladesh did very well in the last series against India,” Tamim had said. Now it seems all is clear for India to travel to Bangladesh after a gap of four years.
