Inter secured the Serie A title with a 2-0 victory over Parma at home, establishing an unassailable lead at the top of the table. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time before Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed the victory 10 minutes from time. Inter rose to 82 points and achieved their 21st shield with three games left.

Inter came into the match knowing that a point would be enough after second-placed Napoli drew 0-0 at Como on Saturday. Sunday’s victory gave them an unbeatable 12-point lead over last season’s champions.

Despite the lack of clear-cut opportunities, Inter controlled much of the first half and established themselves deep in Parma’s half. The hosts came close in the 25th minute when Nicolò Barella’s powerful close-range shot hit the underside of the crossbar. The rebound then hit Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki in the back, but the Japan international reacted quickly to deflect the ball close to the line and out of danger.

Thuram sent home fans into a frenzy in first-half stoppage time, scoring the goal after being found unmarked by Piotr Zielinski’s pass to give Inter the lead. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Inter maintaining control but failing to capitalize on their dominance as fans inside the stadium became increasingly focused on the 90-minute clock.

Federico Dimarco delivered a near-perfect cross to Denzel Dumfries in the final minutes, but the defender couldn’t control his first touch, sending the close-range shot over the bar and missing the chance to seal the match.

Mkhitaryan sealed the victory in the 80th minute, latching on to a low cross from Lautaro Martínez to secure the points and spark title celebrations among Inter fans.

Milan and Juventus at risk

While Inter celebrated, Milan and Juventus risk losing their places in the Champions League. Milan were reduced to 10 men and were defeated 2-0 at Sassuolo, their fourth defeat in seven games. Juventus then drew 1-1 with relegated Hellas Verona.

Milan, third, are two points ahead of Juventus, fourth, who are just three points behind Como, fifth, and the top four finishers will gain access to next season’s Champions League.

Domenico Berardi scored early for Sassuolo and Fikayo Tomori was sent off before Armand Laurienté doubled the home team’s lead after the break. Milan have only scored one goal in their last five games.

Juventus also dropped points at home against Verona, but extended their unbeaten streak to nine games. Scotland international Kieron Bowie put Verona ahead after intercepting a pass from Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and then Dusan Vlahovic equalized for Juventus with a free kick around the Verona wall for his first goal since October. Bologna suffered a 0-0 defeat against Cagliari in the derby.
