When asked about the state of female rap, Salt N Pepa’s Salt said, “When we were coming up, there were a variety of voices and things that were being expressed as women. There is more for us. Lauryn Hill was consciousness, Salt N Pepa was fun, fashion and femininity, Missy Elliott was innovator, Queen Latifah was queen. While I’m proud that women are still doing their part, I would love for the pendulum to swing a little more to the middle. Get some more voices that are being celebrated” Agreed!
