JAMMU, April 26: The meteorological department on Sunday issued a heat wave alert for five districts of Jammu region. The weather is expected to remain pleasant in the rest of the union territory for the next five days.
“Hot and dry weather is likely to continue in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur districts for the next two days, with heat wave conditions at some places on April 26 and 27,” an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
The official noted that people should avoid exposure to heat during peak hours and advised to stay hydrated.
In Kashmir, the weather is expected to remain pleasant and dry with possibility of light rain at some places during the next 48 hours.
“One or two spells of light rain or thunder are possible in many places, with gusty winds or hail in some places towards the afternoon of April 27 and 28.
The weather will be generally dry on April 29 and 30,” he added. The maximum temperature in Kashmir has been hovering around 17-22 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded last night was around nine degrees Celsius. (AGENCIES)
