Dehradun, September 2: On the evening of 27 July, a 5-year-old child was playing in the courtyard of his house in village Badait, block Thalisain, district Pauri Garhwal. Then suddenly the leopard came and killed the child.
After the incident, the forest department tried its best to catch the man-eating leopard but all efforts proved futile. Eventually the department issued an order to kill the cannibal and hunter Joey Hukill was deployed to the village. After monitoring day and night among snakes, leeches and other wild animals in heavy rain for about 15 days, Hukil succeeded in identifying the cannibal, whom he neutralized. Joey Hukill has killed 44 man-eaters so far. It is important to mention that the government has not provided any financial assistance or life insurance to such a person who always risks his life for the people of Uttarakhand.
