Liverpool will face former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood when the Reds take on Marseille in the Champions League tonight.
Liverpool face a tough task in the Champions League today as they travel to France to face Marseille.
The Reds are still struggling to get their season back on track after a difficult first half, which saw the team miss out on the Premier League title.
Liverpool’s results in Europe have been better than in the Premier League, with Arne Slot’s men claiming four wins in six games.
A victory against Marseille will put the club in the top eight of the Champions League standings with just one game remaining.
That game is against Qarabag at home, so if Liverpool win tonight, Slot will feel confident of finishing in the top eight and thus avoiding a potentially difficult play-off to reach the last 16 of the competition.

However, achieving a victory over Marseille will not be easy, given the quality that Roberto De Zerbi has at his disposal in the south of France.
Among them is Ligue 1 top scorer Mason Greenwood, who has registered 20 goals and six assists in 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Greenwood’s quality on the field was recognized by former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United in 2021, when Greenwood was still on the scene at Old Trafford.
Klopp said: “Mason Greenwood? Wow. What a talent he is. I think he may have taken Jadon Sancho out of his position. Mason can play centrally, but there’s no more space, so maybe they’ll share him. It’s a problem you want to have as a manager, 100 per cent.”
Liverpool won the game Klopp was anticipating 5-0.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot praised Marseille coach De Zerbi ahead of tonight’s game, describing him as “one of the best coaches in the world.”
“In my opinion, (a coach’s reputation) should not always be judged by the number of trophies he wins, but also by how he lets his team play,” De Zerbi said.
“I think he is already working in a very big club because Marseille is a very big club. [both] at this moment and also in history.
“I’m not the one who hires coaches, but if I were, I would definitely be high on a list if I worked at a big club. I always like to watch their teams.
“Now he is working in France, so I follow the English league a little more, of course, but when I was at Brighton I saw his teams play more.
“He is a very good coach, it is not always fair to judge coaches only by what they earn, the style of play should also be very important, in my opinion, and the development of the players.
“That’s what you see with him, that players always develop very well and then sometimes when he leaves, these players are not as good as they were with him and that usually tells me what a good coach you are.”
