So, it’s cold. Like it’s really cold. Although I love summer, I prefer dressing for fall and winter. Why? I love the opportunity to layer! Layering allows you to add color, texture, and volume to any look. Staying warm and chic at the same time! Below I’m sharing five unique ways I love to layer.
1. add a turtleneck

When the temperatures drop, I’ll be adding a turtleneck to any of my looks. Turtlenecks look great under heavy sweaters as well as button down shirts. When layering, I usually choose a medium-weight turtleneck like this one. Sometimes I’ll double it up and wear a turtleneck like this under a more voluminous neckline!
2. double coat

I’m all about double coats. Sometimes it’s actually about layering one winter coat over another while sometimes it’s about a less thick, sleek blazer underneath the overcoat. Bonus points if you belt the blazer or add a turtleneck! I love this belt, this belt and this thick belt. If luxury is your thing, this belt and this one are great.
3. Don’t hold back from pantyhose
.wpfi-post-images { display: grid; grid-gap: 15px; grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fit, minmax(10px, auto)); } .wpfi-post-images img { display: block; } .wpfi-post-images–no-margin { grid-gap: 0 !important; } @media(max-width: 1024px) { .wpfi-post-images–offset { grid-template-columns: minmax(10px, 1fr); grid-gap: 25px; } .wpfi-post-images–offset > * { width: 85% ; margin: 0 auto; } .wpfi-post-images–offset > *:first-child, .wpfi-post-images–offset > *:last-child { width: 55%; } .wpfi-post-images–offset > *:first-child { margin-left: 0; } .wpfi-post-images–offset > *:last-child { margin-right: 0; } } @media(min-width: 1025px) { .wpfi-post-images–offset { grid-template-columns: minmax(10px, 4fr) minmax(10px, 7fr) minmax(10px, 4fr); } .wpfi-post-images–offset > *:last-child { -webkit-align-self: flex-end; align-self:flex-end; } .wpfi-post-images–staggered-columns div:nth-child(3n-2 ), .wpfi-post-images–staggered-columns a:nth-child(3n-2 ) { grid-columns: 1 / span 2; } }
Patterned socks, thigh highs, and colorful tights! Looking to add some cozy layers as well as a pop of color or a fun print? Everybody Wins! For example, these socks will dress up a great denim look. PS This is where I buy a lot of my colorful tights.
4. scarf but make it trendy

Right now I’m loving the knitted triangle scarf – also known as a knitted bandana. I bought one from Boden which you can see here, but sadly it’s now sold out! However, it is in stock and I picked it up along with the brown option which I love! Dare I say this will be the blanket scarf of 2026? If you’re an oversized scarf kind of girl this is my personal favorite.
5. invisible layers
OK, what about invisible layers? Let me explain. A good example is wearing fleece-lined leggings under satin pants to stay warm and stylish. Or, layer these incredible cashmere blend long sleeve shirts under any long sleeve. Some other favorites include these leggings and this henley that I’m obsessed with.
