The Miami Open enters week two with Daniil Medvedev fighting Francisco Cerundolo during third-round competition on Monday. Alex Michelsen will face Alejandro Tabilo.

(9) Daniil Medvedev vs. (18) Francisco Cerundolo

Francisco Cerundolo’s results at the Miami Masters are one of the most interesting rarities in tennis. The Argentinian is a great player on clay and often reaches the end of those tournaments. But he also performs consistently well in Miami.

It is bad luck for him to meet a red-hot Daniil Medvedev. The Russian, who endured a miserable 2025 campaign, has returned in a big way. He has two titles and just reached the final in Indian Wells. Medvedev may not yet be in the kind of form that saw him win his only Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open, but he’s not that far off either.

Alejandro Tabilo vs. Alex Michelsen

This will be the first meeting between Alex Michelsen (No. 40) and Alejandro Tabilo (No. 41). The American is in good shape at the moment. He achieved a good result in Indian Wells (defeated Taylor Fritz) and has also played well so far in Miami. Michelsen cruised to an easy straight-sets victory over Mattia Bellucci in the first round and survived a tough battle against Cameron Norrie in the second.

Tabilo may not be a clay court specialist, but he is much more successful on red courts than hard courts. The Chilean did well to overcome a struggling Andrey Rublev in the second round, but I don’t see him advancing to the round of 16.
