Meg Lanning has 1050 runs to her credit in 30 WPL matches played so far as captain of two teams – Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz.

Legendary Australian cricketer Meg Lanning plays for UP Warriorz in the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League. The 33-year-old right-handed batsman, who was signed for Rs 1.90 crore by UP Warriorz in the WPL 2026 mega auction held in New Delhi on November 27, 2025, is in action on Wednesday (January 14) against her former team Delhi Capitals in Navi Mumbai and in the first half of the match, she scored 54 runs off 38 balls as an opening batsman.
During her 54-run knock, Lanning became the first-ever third batter in the world to score 1000 runs in the WPL, and went on to break Harmanpreet Kaur’s record for most runs in the WPL as captain.
Harmanpreet, who played an unbeaten 71 runs for Mumbai Indians in the WPL 2026 match against Gujarat Giants on Tuesday (January 13), scored 1016 runs in 30 WPL matches as captain of Mumbai Indians, while Lanning now has 1050 runs to her name in 30 WPL matches as captain of Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz.

Lanning played 27 WPL matches for Delhi Capitals from 2023 to 2025 and scored 952 runs, and in WPL 2026, he scored 98 runs in three matches for UP Warriorz.
Lanning’s half-century on Wednesday also helped her equal Harmanpreet’s record for most half-centuries in the Women’s Premier League.

Harman on Tuesday became the first player to reach 10 half-centuries in the WPL, and on Wednesday Lanning equaled her tally. Both Harman and Lanning have played 30 WPL matches so far.
