Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard scored a second-half equalizer as Scotland’s World Cup Group C rival Morocco drew 1-1 in a friendly against Norway in New York.

Playing at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, where Scotland thrashed Bolivia 4-0 on Saturday, Morocco took an early lead when Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz found the bottom corner with a powerful right-footed shot from inside the box.

However, Odegaard stormed home after receiving a pass from Fulham winger Oscar Bobb in the 75th minute and there were no further goals.

Morocco will be sweating over the fitness of Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui and Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli after both went off injured.

Scotland were due to play Norway in a training match on Monday but Steve Clarke’s side canceled the game after suffering a couple of problems in training last week.

Morocco will begin their World Cup campaign against Brazil on June 13 (23:00 BST) and then face Scotland on June 19 (23:00).
