JSW Group is gearing up to enter the Indian passenger vehicle market with a new automobile brand, JSW Motors. The company has started inviting applications from potential dealer partners across the country, indicating that groundwork is already underway for its sales network ahead of the launch of its first vehicle.The new venture represents JSW’s independent push into the passenger vehicle segment under its own brand. While the group already owns a stake in MG Motor India, JSW Motors will operate as a separate entity and focus on new energy vehicles, including electric and hybrid models.As part of its initial expansion plans, the company recently took out a full-page advertisement in a newspaper seeking distribution partners. The announcement also included a teaser image of an SUV, suggesting that an SUV will be JSW Motors’ first product in India.JSW Motors has confirmed that its vehicles will be manufactured at a new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The facility is expected to begin operations in phases, with the company targeting the launch of its first model around 2026.

The upcoming SUV is expected to be positioned in the mid-size segment and could be offered with a plug-in hybrid or fully electric powertrain. Industry estimates suggest that the model may be locally assembled and priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, depending on the version.If the company’s plans progress as expected, JSW Motors could become one of the few Indian-owned passenger vehicle manufacturers.
