Oil prices today live updates: Oil prices around the world and global stock markets remained volatile on Wednesday, March 4, as rising tensions in the Middle East continued to disrupt oil flows and economic factors. India’s Sensex fell more than 1,700 points, while South Korea’s benchmark Kospi index fell more than 12 percent.
Global oil prices rose 1 percent as the US-Israeli attack on Iran disrupted supplies in the Middle East. However, the pace of rise in oil prices slowed compared to recent times. Brent rose 1.4 percent to $82.57 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 1 percent to $75.28.
India’s Sensex falls, Nifty also falls
India’s benchmark equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, fell in early trade on Wednesday as conflict escalated in the Middle East, sending oil prices soaring and weighing on Asian and global markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 1,758.22 points (2.19 per cent), while the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 530.85 points (2.13 per cent) in early trade.
