The Bowery Ballroom set the stage for Kukulele Shaheen’s latest collection Electric Cosmos. Guests were entertained with a live band while they watched in amazement as amazing dresses and different costumes walked down the runway.
Collection Twenty-Two is described as a twist of Art Deco mysticism and Baroque glam rock, weaving together mystical sunsets, creatures of the night, cosmic dancers and Martian ballrooms into a richly imagined couture universe. The setting looked intimate but dramatic, with models weaving among the crowd under reflective disco balls and dramatic lighting, enhancing the divine mood of the collection.
Gold attained the highest position. Sheer nude-illusion gowns embellished with glittering beaded constellations floated down the runway, their surfaces glowing like incandescent mithrils under the stage lights. A standout included a plunging neckline and delicate starburst embroidery scattered across the barely-there silhouette, paired with matching embellished gloves, which added to the cosmic dancer theme.
Emerald Tone offered a grounded counterpoint. A moss-green velvet suit with a structured jacket, high-waisted trousers and embellished metallic embellishments reflects baroque glam rock with a modern edge. The look was styled with striking gold earring embellishments, reinforcing the collection’s mystical, almost regal energy. Flowing chartreuse gowns with fluted sleeves and deep slits moved dramatically with each step, evoking images of night lilies and sals fumares bathed in green light.
Metallic gowns in antique gold and bronze brought the ballroom of Mars concept to life. Corsetted bodices transformed into voluminous skirts that caught the light with every movement, while arm cuffs and bell-like embellishments wrapped around models’ arms like cosmic armor. A striking ombre gown faded from deep indigo to purple and sunset peach, sprinkled with crystal constellations that reflected a galaxy at dusk.
Silver sequined column dresses adorned with swirling bead patterns nod to Art Deco geometry, while sheer overlays and long gloves add dramatic allure. The balance of structure and fluidity – liquid metal and tailored velvet against airy mesh – created a multidimensional narrative that felt both vintage and futuristic.
Electric Cosmos was unique, dramatic and unapologetically ornate. Kukulele Shaheen transformed the Bowery Ballroom into an ethereal dreamscape where glam rock met mysticism, and every look shimmered with intention.
