A total of 79,404 candidates accepted the seats allotted to them in the first round of undergraduate admissions in Delhi University, the admissions section of the university said on Saturday. Candidates had until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday to accept their assigned seats.
The university on Thursday issued 93,033 allocated places in 221 undergraduate programs in 67 faculties, compared to about 71,600 available places. As in previous years, it made more allocations than the number of seats to account for withdrawals and minimize the number of admission rounds.
This year’s admissions are done through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). A total of 2,18,284 candidates registered on the portal, of which 2,08,043 completed the preference filling process.
According to the admissions department, 10,746 candidates have so far paid the admission fee, while universities have approved the payment of 26,061 candidates after document verification. Candidates whose documents have been verified and approved must complete the fee payment by July 21, officials said.
After paying the admission fee, candidates can choose the “freeze” option to retain their allotted seat or opt for an “upgrade,” which allows them to be considered for higher preferences in later rounds.
The university will release the second allotment list on July 25, and candidates who are allotted seats in that round are required to complete the fee payment by July 28. The academic session is scheduled to begin on July 28.
The university has not announced any further admission rounds. Officials, however, said a mid-inning round would be notified separately.
