EXCLUSIVE: Like him harry potter The series continues its production, HBO begins to finalize its plans to launch the television adaptation of JK Rowling’s fantasy books.
“We’ve been saying 2027,” Casey Bloys, president and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, told Deadline during a wide-ranging interview. “I would say, to narrow it down to a point, early 2027. And now you’re going to ask me if that means January, February, March, April, which we’re not ready to say. I’ll say early 2027.”

Bloys first addressed a possible release date for harry potter in a September 2024 interview with Deadline when he said “late 26-27” before adding, “the writers are just getting started, so it’s too early to talk about an air date.”
For the past year, while the series was being written, aired, and began production, its release date was listed as 2027. The window has now been narrowed.
Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger in the series, which has been filming in the UK since the summer. Its adult protagonists include Paapa Essiedu, John Lithgow and Janet McTeer.

Mark Mylod is executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the series, produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros Television. Also executive producing are Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Hans Zimmer has recently signed on as a composer.
