Hyderabad: Sigma Advanced Systems on Monday said it has received an export contract worth US$21.97 million (about Rs 208 crore) to manufacture and supply 40,000 units of 155 mm M107 artillery shell body to a customer in North America. The Hyderabad-based company said the order is to be executed over a period of six months, with production and delivery scheduled to be completed within that period. The company said the contract covers the production of 155 mm shell body, a core structural element of artillery ammunition that demands advanced metallurgical expertise, high precision machining, heat treatment and rigorous quality assurance to ensure reliable performance under extreme operating conditions. The company has obtained the necessary export authorization from the Department of Defense Production under the Ministry of Defence. According to the company, industry demand for 155mm ammunition components has increased as the caliber remains the global standard for modern artillery systems and is widely used on NATO and allied platforms. The company said the contract marks a strategic expansion of its munitions capabilities, positioning the company beyond its earlier focus as a fuse manufacturer and into the production of complete artillery shell components.“This move provides Sigma with dual capabilities in key ammunition sub-systems and strengthens its profile as an end-to-end engineering and precision manufacturing partner for global defense customers,” it said.It said the scale of the order also underscores Sigma’s ability to execute high-volume, mission-critical manufacturing programs for international customers.Sunil Kalidindi, CEO and Executive Director, Sigma Advanced Systems, said, “This contract reflects the confidence of international customers in India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem and Sigma’s ability to deliver complex, high-precision products at scale.”Sigma said the deal strengthens its credentials in global defense supply chains amid a broader shift toward diverse, trusted manufacturing partners.
