Actor-singer Amit Jadhav has alleged that the 2025 film Saiyaara It is a copy of his short film Khwabon. In a recent interview, Jadhav criticized Yash Raj Films for not giving him any credit and stated that despite trying to contact the makers of the film starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Paddahe did not receive any response.
talking to HT CityJadhav said he had earlier received a message from YRF Talent but did not know the reason for their contact.
“I also tried to talk last year. I actually received a direct message on Instagram from YRF Talent in 2022, they wanted to contact me. I asked them what project they were contacting me for, but they didn’t respond. I didn’t know anyone there, nor had I given them any auditions to get in touch.”
He further stated that he realized the similarity between the two stories only after the release of Saiyaara. Amit Jadhav said that about a week after the film’s release, some of his friends told him that the story was very similar to his short film.
According to him, he was shocked by the claim and tried to contact the creators, even trying to visit their office, but his friends told him that he was unlikely to receive a response or be entertained.
The actor said the situation had a severe impact on his mental health. “I’m a singer, so I kept working, I relaxed a little because of that. But one day I almost committed suicide. I was drunk, my parents saw and that’s how I was saved. I felt like the world didn’t want me to be successful. They didn’t call me for any auditions.”
Jadhav also claimed that he had been developing a script based on the same story, but the release of Saiyaara affected those plans. However, he acknowledged that the script had not been formally registered.
“I am part of the Screenwriters Association, but no, I did not register the story in 2019 because it was a short film and it was on a public platform as evidence,” he said.
According to Jadhav, he tried to contact the makers via email for clarification but did not receive a response. “I wrote in the email that I had also received an email from them in 2022, and that SaiyaaraThe story is similar to mine. iska clarification said.
