SonyLIV has announced that its new original animated series ‘The Legend of Karna’ will premiere on July 31. Inspired by one of the most powerful and tragic characters in the Mahabharata, the series aims to retell the life of Karna through a visually rich animated format.
Created by Sharad Devarajan and Jeevan J Kang, and produced by Graphic India, the series follows Karna’s journey from his miraculous birth to Kunti and the Sun God Surya to his rise as one of the greatest warriors in Indian mythology.
According to PTI’s Mumbai report today, the story highlights Karna’s fight against social prejudices after growing up in a charioteer’s house, despite possessing extraordinary archery skills.
Throughout his life, he faces discrimination due to his social status as he strives to earn respect and prove his abilities on the battlefield.
The series will explore Karna’s courage, loyalty, sacrifices and internal conflicts, offering viewers a deeper look at one of the Mahabharata’s most complex and admired characters. It also shows the challenges he overcomes in his quest for honor and recognition.
By presenting the story in an animated format, SonyLIV aims to introduce Karna’s legendary journey to a wider audience, including younger viewers, while remaining rooted in the timeless themes of destiny, identity, friendship and resilience.
