That didn’t stop Cunningham from being a positive influence on a few hundred basketball campers Sunday.
He had his camp scheduled like this from the beginning and he wasn’t going to miss it.
In fact, photos and videos from throughout the day show that Cunningham was all smiles.
He also got the chance to pose with the campers for pictures, and they all wanted to make Cunningham’s now-meme-worthy point, which he made during a game against DeWanna Bonner:

The reality is that this is just great.
Many WNBA players give a very clear feeling of gratitude for the opportunities they have. They know the women who came before them helped set a better path for the league and they know they can be role models for the next generation.

Cunningham is a solid player, first for the Phoenix Mercury and now for the Fever. Her popularity has skyrocketed in Indiana as Caitlin Clark attracts many more viewers to both the league and the Fever specifically.
The feisty Cunningham has bowed. She’s a protector on the court and a podcast host off it.
And on Sunday, she was a hero to a group of young players who got the chance to interact with one of their favorite players.
