Prayagraj: In a major reform aimed at improving transparency and ensuring optimal utilization of vacancies, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced a new ‘sliding mechanism’ starting with the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 examination.“Under this system, candidates will first be given provisional allotments of posts or departments through First Round of Tentative Allotment (FRTA), based on their merits and preferences. They are then required to complete an Identity Verification (IV) process within a stipulated time, which includes Aadhaar-based authentication, biometric verification and live photo capture,” SSC Regional Director (Central Region) Ashish Kumar Srivastava said.During verification, candidates must select the “Repair” or “Float” options. Selecting ‘Fix’ confirms that the current assignment is final, while selecting ‘Float’ keeps the candidate eligible for promotion to more preferred positions if vacancies arise later.The mechanism has been implemented in all nine SSC zones.Initially, candidates are assigned a temporary position based on their rank and preferences.The commission will carry out only one moving round. Vacancies generated due to the absence of candidates during verification will be reallocated among those who opted for ‘Float’, based on merit and preferences.The final result issued after this process will be binding for both the candidates and the departments, stated the regional director.Candidates must book their ID verification slots through the SSC official website by selecting their preferred city/state, date and shift. Once reserved, the place will be final and cannot be modified. Candidates who do not appear at the scheduled time risk having their candidature cancelled.For verification, candidates need to carry their original Aadhaar card, a printout of space booking and the mobile number registered for OTP based authentication.In the Central Region, the sliding process will begin on April 13 at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Jhalwa.15,118 CGL exams passed 2025The SSC on Wednesday declared the CGL 2025 exam results, with a total of 15,118 candidates qualified for various Group B and Group C posts in ministries and departments of the Central Government.Of them, 6,458 belong to the non-reserved category, 3,832 to the OBC, 2,221 to the SC, 1,132 to the ST and 1,475 to the EWS category. Within the unreserved category, 1,526 OBC, 794 EWS, 40 SC and eight ST candidates have also been included.The Tier I results were announced on December 18, 2025, while the Tier II computer-based exam was conducted on January 18 and 19, 2026. The FRTA was released as per the notification issued on March 3, 2026.
