Starting April 1, 18% interest on unpaid property taxes and water bills
Gurgaon residents have until Tuesday as the deadline to clear property taxes and water bills.

GURGAON: Residents have until Tuesday to clear pending property taxes and water bills. From April 1, with the start of the new financial year, unpaid property tax will incur 18% annual interest and overdue water bills will incur a surcharge.To facilitate last-minute payments, MCG has decided to keep all concerned corporate offices open on Tuesday despite the holiday so that residents can clear their pending bills. Officials said consumers who fail to deposit their dues before the deadline will have to bear additional financial burden in the form of penalties.MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya urged residents to make timely payments to avoid interest and surcharges. He said timely collection of taxes also helps the civic body expedite development works in the city.Officials said the payment service is available both online and offline. Residents can deposit their bills at nearby corporate offices or pay through the civic body’s online portal. The civic body also appealed to residents to cooperate by paying their dues on time and contributing to the development and maintenance of the city.For fiscal year 2026-27, MCG has set a target of Rs 325 crore for property tax revenue. That’s an 18% increase compared to property tax revenue projections for fiscal year 2025-26. This year, MCG and MCM also introduced artificial intelligence (AI) to increase property tax revenue. Using AI, residents with pending dues are identified and contacted, their queries are resolved and they are provided assistance in paying pending taxes, officials said. The civic organization also intensified its campaign against property tax defaulters by sealing properties and disconnecting water and sewage connections.
