Stock Market Today: After a week of selling, Nifty50 and BSE Sensex opened flat in trading on Monday. While Nifty50 was below 23,150, BSE Sensex was down about 100 points. At 9:17 am, Nifty 50 was trading at 23,127.30, down 24 points or 0.10%. BSE Sensex was down 91 points or 0.12% at 74,472.58.Market analysts expect volatility to remain high in the near term as geopolitical tensions in West Asia are disrupting the energy sector and pushing up crude oil prices. Uncertainty over shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz also kept investor sentiment weak. Asian markets rose on Monday after oil prices gave up earlier gains as investors sought to stabilize following the US attack on Iran’s main export hub. The dollar also weakened during the session.Oil prices fell on Monday after a call from US President Donald Trump urging other countries to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and gas shipments.Gold prices were steady after recovering from a previous decline of about 1%. U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday, ending a volatile week during which wild swings in crude oil prices repeatedly unsettled equity markets. Foreign portfolio investors remained net sellers in the Indian markets and sold shares worth Rs 10,716 crore on Friday.
