Hyderabad: Armed Forces Flag Day 2025 was celebrated on Friday with solemnity and strong patriotic spirit at Sainik Welfare Directorate, Hyderabad and all ten Sainik Regional Welfare Offices in Telangana. The commemorative event was organized with the active participation of ex-servicemen, their families and NCC cadets, reaffirming the state’s deep commitment to honoring the sacrifices of the armed forces.
Established in 1949, the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund provides crucial support for the rehabilitation and resettlement of former servicemen and their families. This year’s celebrations were inaugurated by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Fund. The Governor made a generous personal donation and presented trophies to Ranga Reddy and Nizamabad regions for raising the highest contributions to the fund.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy contributed Rs 1 lakh to the Flag Day Fund and published the book Brave and Bold, written by Col P Ramesh Kumar. The book narrates the inspiring life stories of 75 bravery award winners from Telangana, paying a powerful tribute to their courage and dedication.
Senior officials including CV Anand, Special Chief Secretary, Home Department, and Seshadri, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, also made generous donations to the fund.
Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Ramesh Kumar, Director, Sainik Welfare, expressed his deep gratitude to the government employees of all categories (registered, non-registered staff, Class IV, lecturers, teachers, drivers and secretarial staff) as well as the employees of State Bank of India for their voluntary and sustained contributions year after year.
He also thanked the DDG NCC, Group and Battalion Commanders and NCC Cadets for their unwavering support in organizing the Flag Day.
