The rule of three is a styling principle I come back to time and time again. It works in fashion and decor, and it almost always takes me where I want to go. That third piece usually comes from a finishing layer, the thing that gives an outfit just the right amount of lift to make it feel complete.
When it comes to mixing prints, I like to follow a loose rule of three. The first sets the palette, graphic, bold to which everything else answers. The second scale changes, holding the same rhythm but shorter and more subdued. The third brings a surprise, the way you can enter it through an accessory device.
Three pieces, three prints, one outfit is much more exciting than stopping at one.
