Otago Sparks have not been at their best this Super Smash season as they sit in 4th position on the table with only 2 wins so far in the tournament. The Sparks got off to a dominant start as they won 2 of 2 in their first matches, and that too convincingly. But in the last two games something seems to have altered the Sparks’ rhythm.

In the match against Northern Brave, they were bowled out for 114 while chasing 139. Luck also did not favor them in the previous match as they lost by just 1 run against Auckland Heart. In the next match against Wellington Blaze, both teams come into the match with a loss in their previous match and a win for either team will do a lot of good for their confidence.
emma black
Emma Black has been one of the leading wicket takers in this tournament with 7 wickets to her name in 4 matches. He bowls with a very good economy of 5 and his average is just over 11. His best figures this season are 2 for 15 in the four overs and he has been consistent throughout this campaign. Emma will be a player to watch as her length rarely falters, and it would be a task for the opposition batsmen to contain her.
Luisa Kotkamp
Louisa Kotkamp has also had a fabulous run this season with 6 wickets in her 4 innings with an economy of just over 7. Her best bowling figures were 3 for 24 and her ability to control the flow of runs is exceptional. The pressure placed on batsmen may not be reflected in the statistics, but it is important to understand the tactical importance of such performances. Kotkamp would be a player to watch out for, considering her technical prowess and T20 bowling ability and with a little more help in the batting department, she could be an absolute winner for the team.
Bella James
Bella James has not had the start she would have hoped for in the tournament, having only scored 18 runs in her first 3 innings. But in the later innings, he scored a solid 40, which really helped his confidence, and the touch that James was missing seemed to have been found in those innings. She has been a good top-order hitter, and if she is able to maintain the momentum from the previous game, she could be an exciting hitter to watch out for, and the Sparks will have a stronger batting unit.
