Ready or Not 2: Here I Come It’s already in theaters and we have to interview the star Kathryn Newton. This was the second time we talked to her, so other than a little love for Lisa Frankensteinwe spent most of the interview talking about How absolutely incredible Samara Weaving is as a person and co-star.. Here you have the complete transcript and video of the interview.
Kaitlyn Booth: Hello, my name is Kaitlyn, but I’m here on behalf of Bleeding Cool. It’s a pleasure to see you again. I have to interview you for Lisa Frankenstein.
Kathryn Newton: The best movie of all time.
Booth: I know a lot of people always ask what scene was the most difficult to film. I want to know what scene you walked into, and everything went perfectly, no problems, you just walked in and everything fell perfectly into place.
Newton: Oh, man, you know, I feel like that about every scene with Samara fabric” Newton said. “I think the one that was like the ‘question mark’ was our opening scene. We started that day with that scene. That was our first scene of the movie. me too It was curiously like Mate [Bettinelli-Olpin] and tyler [Gillett]I was like, “This writing, not this one,” right? because they I rewrote it the day before, it’s not like that, and they said, “No, that’s all we have.” And then we had to do it so many times. different ways, at so many different times. And then, honestly, when I first saw the movie, I called Matt and Tyler and It was like, “You edited this.” movie to perfection. “Because the beauty of this group of people making this movie is that the best idea really wins, and we try everything, you know?”
And I think it all worked out, I guess the scene that comes to mind, you saw the movie, and I won’t spoil it, but you saw it. It’s the scene where I finally have the sword, we walk and I do that with Derek. That was something I wanted to be a certain way, and you don’t know what it’s going to be like, it’s four in the morning and everyone’s tired. And we did it once, you know, in each of our coverages, maybe twice. And that kind of thing is what we are like as professionals. “We were so involved and intertwined with each other and we just loved each other, I loved it so much.”
Booth: So you spent a good amount of the first act handcuffed to Samara. How was that? Were they real handcuffs or props? How was that? How was that?
Newton: No, they were real, they were real wives. There was a guy whose job it was to lock us up and get us out. And in a couple of things, when it was very wide, we could use rubber ones. But when they were really real, they weren’t like magical handcuffs that she and I could take off of our own volition. And I really enjoyed being handcuffed to her.
Position: [Laughing]
Newton: I really liked it. Yeah, I mean, not in a weird way, but I would have followed her on set anyway, like ‘Where’s Sam?’ Where is she sitting? Okay, I’m going to pull up a stool right next to her. And I think that led to that sister bond dynamic because I really wanted to be around her all the time, and I ended up copying her in so many different things.

Booth: Yeah, people online have been saying that you two look like sisters forever, and the sibling dynamic with Samara rang so true on screen. Do you have brothers? Was it based on a personal experience, or did it really all come together through writing and meeting Sam on screen?
Newton: I think you’re right, I think it follows from the writing,” Newton responded. “I think that was on the page, and there’s a lot to say about Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and tyler [Gillett] choose good people. They always said we would be friends and they said, ‘Oh, she’s like the weirdest girl.’ I say, ‘Does smart mean weird? No, no, she is literally perfect. And she’s not weird, but I think they use ‘rare’ lovingly. Rare is something like individual, rare is something that is just okay with themselves and original. And when someone has that, you can be like that too. You can be yourself That too, and that’s what you want in a co-star.
That’s what you want at the head. She was a wonderful leader on set. That’s something I don’t take for granted and it excites me. She was so good to me. And it is his movie. It’s his franchise and he never made me feel like I shouldn’t take up space. And if I were to ask you something like, what do you think of this idea? She was like I shouldn’t have asked. She told me: ‘Do it, do what you want.’ That’s why you’re here. And I hope to work with her on another movie at some point because she’s fun to watch. I love seeing us on set being little, as she calls us, ding-a-lings.
Booth: Well, I just received my packaging please. It was very nice talking to you again. And I love the movie, and have a wonderful day.
