Voucher Insurance has promoted Tyson Stevenson to Chief Revenue Officer, placing the firm’s sales, placement and client management functions under a single executive for the first time – a structural change that addresses the specific retention risk inherent in specialty broking for venture-backed companies. Venture-backed clients fail, fold, get acquired or lose funds at rates that make churn in this segment structurally higher than in traditional commercial broking. A broker that wins a client in Series A but can’t retain them through a pivot, down round, or acquisition has a leaking book, no matter how strong its new business pipeline is. Integrating sales and customer management under one leader addresses that dynamic by making retention a revenue function rather than a direct service function.
