The Pistons have a 5.5-game stranglehold on second place, and Cade Cunningham became their first All-Star guard since Allen Iverson tied them.

Now the Pistons have built something legitimately terrifying around Cunningham, who is averaging 25.3 points and 9.8 assists and looks every bit the cornerstone of the franchise they drafted him to be.
Golden State catches them after a rare stumble. Phoenix scored them 114-96 behind Dillon Brooks’ career-high 40 points, and I’m not sure what the hell that means. I never imagined Brooks scoring so many points on a defensive-minded team like Detroit.
Cunningham still had his 26, and Jalen Duran had 23 and 13 rebounds, but the Pistons’ defense was cooked by a Suns team that was without Devin Booker.

The Warriors bring their own momentum after sweeping Utah 140-124. Steph scored 27, Moses Moody added 26 and the offense hummed with eight players scoring in double figures. That performance of 39 assists on 46 made field goals? That’s the Warriors’ motion offense clicking at the levels we like to see here at Dub Nation.
Can the Warriors solve Cunningham’s pick-and-roll dominance? Will Detroit’s rim protection stifle Golden State’s momentum? The Pistons are moving toward something special, but Chase Center remains one of the toughest environments in the league. This feels like a January measuring game that could easily preview June matchups if Golden State finds some charm after the commercial break.
